Hot water cylinder installation, repair, & replacement in Harrow & Hillingdon
If you need a new hot water cylinder installed or an old one repaired or replaced, then we are here to help. EP365 works 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, so we are on hand when you need us.
Our team of friendly, expert engineers are ready to help with any issue with your hot water cylinder in Harrow and surrounding areas.
A hot water cylinder is a common component for central heating systems that don't use a combination boiler, and they store hot water ready for use. Hot water tanks are great for areas with poor mains water pressure, as the tank stores the water ready for use and aren't dependant on the mains pressure to feed the taps, showers, and baths.
How can we help?
Hot Water Cylinder types:
Hot water cylinder installation
We are happy to help with the new cylinder installation. Having a new cylinder installed is common when you change the boiler type, build your property, or extend/renovate. Otherwise, you are much more likely to replace your cylinder (we can do that too).
Hot water cylinder repair
Sometimes the cylinder can become damaged and may need repair. It may be that the pipe connectors may leak or need replacing. Or any of the pipes leading to or from it may be the issue. But old age can make a water cylinder degrade, so there are many reasons the hot water tank may need repair - and we are happy to help.
Hot water cylinder replacement
Our 24-hour 365 days a year service means we are here to help any time you need it. We are happy to help you at home or your business as we offer residential and commercial services. We can install your boiler at a time that is convenient for you.
Hot Water Cylinders Types
The two main types of hot water cylinders are vented and unvented. They both store hot water ready for use. But are designed to work with different boilers.
Vented cylinders are the more traditional option, if you have an older boiler, it is more likely you will have a vented cylinder. They are characterised by needing a cold water tank to feed the boiler, usually in the loft.
- Cheaper to purchase, install, and maintain.
- Better water pressure if the mains pressure is low.
- Not dependant on mains water supply, as the tank stores water.
- A large cold-water storage which takes up space.
- Gravity-fed design, the water pressure is dependant on the height of the cold water tank. i.e. taps upstairs will may be lower pressure than downstairs.
- Vented cylinders rarely deliver the water pressure of an unvented system (unless mains pressure is low).
Unvented cylinders differ to vented in a few ways. Firstly, they don't require a cold water storage tank as they are fed by the mains. An unvented system means hot and cold water is delivered at mains pressure.
- Usually better water pressure, as water flows at mains pressure.
- No cold-water storage tank required, which saves space in the loft.
- Doesn't rely on gravity-fed design, so can be installed almost anywhere in the property.
- A completely sealed system which reduces the risk of contamination.
- Can be quieter if you can hear the cold water storage when it's filling.
- More modern (and complicated) technology means they can be more expensive to buy, install and maintain.
- Unvented cylinders may not be compatible with some modern power showers and mixers.
- Linked directly to the mains, so no hot water if the mains is turned off.
